Our History
Jacob Gartner and his son Isadore started their business on foot, bringing dry goods to the people of the Copper Country. They walked from town to town while stopping at every farmhouse in between until 1886, when they opened Gartner's Department Store in Hancock, Michigan.
From the Gartner family to the Kahn family and now with the Johnson family, Gartners Gallery has been locally and family owned for over 130 years and can still be found in downtown Hancock, making it one of the oldest businesses in the area.
With such a long tradition, Gartners Gallery has become ingrained with the local community. For this reason, the goal remains to offer beautiful furniture and amazing customer service to help all our customers Love their Home.
